At the end of this week students will be heading home. On Wednesday we will recognize the one-year certificate recipients.
Next week three global intern teams return from their 16-months of ministry overseas and will begin their final term as seniors. This is always an exciting time of the year.
So far forty-two students are accepted for the fall semester at BCOM. In addition to this, another 31 students are in process of completing their application.
Continue to join with us as we trust the Lord to bring a great group of young people in August to study at the College.
T. Gamble Video Productions out of Lindstrom, MN is filming commercials for Bethany Center for Global Studies and Bethany College of Missions. This Thursday the STMLC (Short-Term Mission Leaders Conference) will begin. In all the talk about next week’s conference, here’s something you may not have realized. We have a mini-conference attached to a bigger conference. The national SHORT-TERM MISSION LEADERS CONFERENCE begins at 6:30 on Thursday evening April 24. But at 8:00am that same morning we begin pre-conference sessions that go all day long and are geared especially for STEM Team leaders. We call it STEM Team Leader Certification or TLC. Indeed we want it to be filled with TLC (tender loving care) because these are the ones who are at the very heart of STEM Ministries around the world. About 27 people will be coming in from at least seven states and three countries outside the US to talk about issues directly involving those leading and/or receiving STEM teams. Many of those who come regard it almost like a wonderful family reunion and look forward to the fellowship each year. Even more importantly, it’s a time when we can pray together, seeking God’s direction for STEM as we grow; we want to hold on to what is important, and flex where we need to in order to keep current in knowing how we fit in His great global plan.
Forty prospective students and their parents came to our campus visit days called Paradox on April 15 and 16. These are a few of them:
75 Korean men were on campus Friday - Sunday (April 16 - 18) to attend The Father School, a seminar on being effective husbands and fathers.

“Paradox” is a college visit day for prospective students and their parents that will be held April 15-16. All are welcome! If your church would be open advertising Paradox to its youth, please contact us. A big thanks to those who have already given a promo packet to their church!
A team from Oak Hills Christian College went to Haiti March 6-13. They served with the Christian Center for Community Development, a group of 10 Haitian Baptist churches committed to transformation in Haiti through local churches. The team served mainly in Port au Prince, in clean-up efforts, holding Vacation Bible School, setting up a Medical clinic, and worshipping with National believers. The National believers were inspired that people from so far away care so much.
The team also attended a church service held in the street in front of a church building that is still standing and in good condition. This is common practice all over Haiti where there is still fear of more aftershocks and buildings collapsing. Most people whose homes were not damaged still sleep in tents because of this fear. The team prayed with many people in their homes or yards to be released from this fear. They also prayed for several pastors who requested prayer as they present the hope of Jesus to the many now open to turn from the darkness and captivity of Voodoo to Jesus. This is a new day for Haiti! Please continue to pray for openness to the truth of the Gospel.
Here is a link to a nice five minute slideshow! “Greater things are still to be done in Haiti.”
STEM’s goal is to send 12 teams to Haiti this year. A team of 20 members are preparing for another STEM Restoration Team to Haiti June 12-19. This team is made up of listeners to Christian radio station QFM (http://www.yourqfm.com/) reaching NW MN and Eastern ND.
We at Bethany trust that Easter is filled with revelation of how great God’s love is for you. As it says in Ephesians 3:19, “that you would know this love that surpasses knowledge” - you would experience His love in tangible ways.
