About Us
Missionary Care
Life on the field is demanding, and although missionaries are well prepared people of high dedication and spiritual maturity, like everyone, they need friendship, encouragement, support, and, sometimes, specialized care. An experienced member care team works with missionaries throughout their entire career. This includes pre-field orientation, crisis care, field visits, training, and development. Care occurs at several levels:
- Master care – Because Jesus cares for us like no one else can, we seek to strengthen, deepen and renew the missionary’s relationship with Christ.
- Self and mutual care – Missionaries are asked to monitor their spiritual, mental and emotional health, personal development, and close relationships—seeking help from team members, family and friends. An annual evaluation is done with each missionary.
- Sender care – Bethany International joins with home churches and partnering agencies to promote personal growth throughout the missionary’s career. Area coordinators, pastors, mission leaders, and member care specialists visit missionaries periodically. Missionaries participate in seminars, interviews, debriefings, and study opportunities.
- Specialist Care – Missionaries may require culturally relevant attention from a medical professional, a counselor, or an educational specialist. The goal is empowerment.
- Network Care – Bethany’s member care team is linked to a specialized network of professionals located in several parts of the world.
Bethany International seeks to carry out its mission with compassion,
responsibility, and integrity, knowing that missionaries need a support
team of family, friends, churches and mission.
We work against loneliness, isolation, discouragement and mediocrity.
We seek to nurture, encourage, and uphold our missionaries.
To delight God's Heart and Extend His Kingdom
