Ministry Fields
Bethany International Ministries has career missionaries working in 25 nations. Here is a brief overview of what we are doing in each of our fields.
Jesus calls us to make disciples of all nations. Many of these nations are implementing outreach to other nations. We are building a worldwide network of training programs and sending agencies to place servant leaders among the world's least-reached people.
South America
Brazil has missionaries and nationals serving in leadership training, publishing, bookstores, social work, missions and Bible training, and a mission-sending agency. The churches planted by the mission now form a separate organization. Paraguay is home to a missions training school, an elementary school, a church, and a riverboat ministry. Chile is the site of a new missions training school to send Chileans to reach the unreached. Bolivia hosts a team of workers engaged in church planting and leadership training and are starting a missions training school in the near future.
Central America and the Caribbean
Mexico has become a sending nation and Bethany is intensely involved in training and mobilizing missionaries to other nations. Missionaries also do evangelism and church planting in mountain villages, and specialize in music and worship ministries. Honduras is home to a missionary family involved in coordinating short-term outreaches. In Puerto Rico a missions training school started by Bethany missionaries is now led and administrated by Puerto Rican believers.
North America
On the campus of Bethany International in Bloomington, MN, there are several ministries: Bethany College of Missions, Bethany Press International, and Bethany International Ministries. There is also a ministry to First Nation people in Canada.
Europe
Less than 2.4% of Europeans are evangelical Christians. In France we train leaders, proclaim the gospel, and plant churches. In the Balkans we work in relief, leadership and community development, youth ministry, ethnic reconciliation and evangelism. In Slovenia our workers are engaged in evangelism, discipleship and leadership training. In the Netherlands we care for refugees from Turkey, Afghanistan and other nations. In Spain we pastor and instruct future pastors in a Bible training school. By partnering with other agencies we can place workers in Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Ukraine, Portugal, U.K., Ireland, Belgium, Russia, Poland, Germany, and Austria.
Asia
In several countries in Southeast Asia, missions training and literature distribution are effective Bethany ministries. In Japan, missionaries are engaged in church planting and leadership training in several locations. People of vision and perseverance are needed to make Christ known here. In Singapore, a school initiated by our missionaries is now led by Singaporeans who focus primarily on training and sending Christians from many nations as missionaries and trainers. In the Philippines, church planting, training, and an agricultural project are designed to accelerate church growth. In Thailand we are involved in the translation of the Bible. Cambodia hosts two missionary couples working in radio and training ministries and with our new Global Internship program.
Africa
Ghana is home to a national church-planting and leadership-training ministry. In Kenya, our missionaries train nationals to reach the least reached at home and abroad.
Creative access countries
This name is used to describe nations where much discretion is necessary for security reasons and where internationals are deployed to serve the people in strategic ways, including relief and development, language teaching and other means that benefit the nation and provide creative opportunities to leave an effective Christian witness.
