How can I be sure my gifts make a difference?
Your gifts make a difference. A difference to God.
Isn’t it amazing that the Creator, Sustainer, Ruler and Owner of all things desires partnership with people like you and me in the work of His Kingdom! The Bible describes God’s response to our financial participation in His work:
- He loves it! “God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Cor 9:7).
- He receives thanks! “This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God”. (2 Cor 9:12).
A difference to God’s servants.
A financial gift, besides meeting a need, is a source of joy and encouragement. It is seen as a validation of the ministry in which the missionary is engaged and an incentive to use the gifts wisely, responsibly, thankfully and with great humility.
- “I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now” (Phil 1:4-5).
- “Their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity” (2 Cor 8:2).
A difference to the giver.
The joy of receiving is only surpassed by the joy of giving and knowing that the gift has met a strategic need. Beyond that, giving to others is giving to God and brings His rewards.
- “Just as you excel in everything in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us see that you also excel in this grace of giving” (2 Cor 8:7).
- “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously” (2 Cor 9:6).
Your gifts are used as intended.
As a member of the ECFA (Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability) Bethany adheres to its high standards in the interest of God’s glory and credibility before our donors and recipients.
The Apostle Paul was also a fundraiser who assured donors of the highest standards of integrity. Bethany International shares the zeal expressed in his words (2 Cor 8:16-21):
- For Titus not only welcomed our appeal, but he is coming to you with much enthusiasm and on his own initiative.
- And we are sending along with him the brother who is praised by all the churches for his service to the gospel.
- What is more, he was chosen by the churches to accompany us as we carry the offering, which we administer in order to honor the Lord himself and to show our eagerness to help.
- We want to avoid any criticism of the way we administer this liberal gift.
- For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of men.
Bethany International receives donations on behalf of its many ministries, projects and missionaries. All funds are used as designated. Receipts for tax-deduction purposes are provided for all donations.
